sr transmission problem

well first of all my transmission is a 5sp and when its in neu. its in reverse, and i can only get into 1st and 2nd and when i let the clutch out the engine starts to die

Most likely the roll pin in the striker rod is broken.

so should i just replace the transmission

go to the junkyard or dealership and ask for the roll pin. buy it and with a wrench or deep end socket remove the old one. its under the trannmision fork. but when you replace make sure you lube it up with grease. i didnt do that when i changed my clutch. i dindt even check it and a week later it broke. i might have a video for you give me a few days.
