okay it all started when i was trying to install a freddy mani. when i put everything back together the car ran like crap. a couple weeks later im still battling the problem. the timing was fine or so i thought before the install. what i want to know is what would cause the timing to be thrown out of wack?
i took the timing gun to it and the timing mark is bouncing all over. also the cams are bc 264 adv 2.5. i did have a code 11 which is the cas be that code never came back again after a few checks. thx

your timing will bounce all over the place if you do not get the ecu into timing mode. that is normal. what is the timing bouncing to and from? should swing back and forth close to 15 degrees (2nd notch from left is zero, each dash to the right of that mark is 5 degrees)

Also could be due to the fact you installed the CAS wrong.

Tilt it counter clockwise past lining the two dots up iirc when installing. The two dots should be aligned WHEN INSTALLED, you won't be able to see this without the valve cover off.

i didnt install anything. i had the engine rebuilt and everything ran fine for 3 months. so i dont know how it do this unless the cas is bad. but i will take off the valve cover and check. as far as the timing bouncing around, its very severe. it will go beyond the notches and the engine will react accordingly. i saw the marking on occasion dissapear and go extreme left and right.

okay so i pulled the plugs and they are black and have gas on the ends of each plug. if i clean those those really well, will that help the sputtering go away?
