When I start my car, it takes less than 1 min to heat up, according to the temperature sensor. I have hot water going through the heater core, could I still have a bubble in the system. Does anyone pay attention to thier temperature and notice this?

If within 1 minute of sitting there the car is warmed up and it has set all night and has been a cool night I would almost say that is to fast. But if it doesn't overheat you are ok. There are a few different factors to this, like what mixture of coolant and water do you have and is there air in the system which if there was it proly would be overheating. Does your radiator have good ventalation? Basically, does it get good airflow?

my car is hot almost immediately also. My DSM was like that too. Turbo cars probilby warm up marginally faster because of the coolant going through the turbo. The exhaust manifold gets hot in seconds so i'm assuming the turbo heats up fast too.

Also with our big alluminum blocks heat is trasfered through them quicker than an iron block.

It's normal from my experence.

i think you got it, i hope. the coolant going through the turbo should definitly heat up along with the manifold. the main reason i asked was because the original temp sensor from sr didn't register in the ka gauge panel. i switched out the sensor, and it started working. now it climbs to halfway and sits.

The radiator is just so small that it heats up in a hurry. Plus the temp range on the stock temp gauge is so limited it has a pretty wide 'range' for 'normal'. The motor really isn't warmed up (even though it says it is) untill the thermostat opens up and starts letting coolent flow. Also a side note the oil will be like 3 or 4 min behind the coolent warming up so don't rev it too much untill you get that up to temp.

The water going through the turbo really dosn't cause it to heat up that much quicker. My NA KA did the same thing when I'd start it up, even in the middle of winter.

Bottom line though, don't worry about it, that's pretty much normal.

the guy at nissan told me they designed the system so you get heat and the sensors get heat, before the thermostat opens. they did this for emissions.
