I posted this on another thread but somebody suggested I post it here...or in the compatibility section for reference. So here it is
A couple of months ago, while driving on the highway I started noticing a LOT of vibration in my gas peddal, especially at higher RPMs. Below 4k it would be fine, but then it would vibrate so much under my foot over 4K that my foot would start to itch.
When I got around to checking it I found out that the shaft the throttle cable rotor was bolted to, which straddles the intake plenum was able to move in and out about 1cm..where there should be NO play (obvisously).
This is on a redtop SRthe residue you see was my first failed attempt to fix the problem with some jb weld stuff...let me tell you there is NO way to patch this problem.
I finally realized that i probably broke it when I tried to bend the throttle rotor while installing my Greddy intake.
...anyway
So I tried to source another TB but not wanting to pay out the *** for an SR one, and happened to get a free Sentra SE-R TB which I had heard varying answers on with regards to fitment on the Redtop SR. So I decided to try it to see if it would fit. So here are the pics... SR is on the left
As you can tell...there aren't many differences between the two. The size is absolutely identical. The only differences are the dirction of the coolant lines. For SR one line comes from the front, the other from the back. On the Sentra, both are from back.
The spring is a bit thinner and lighter on the Sentra, plus the bend that attaches to the Throttle rotor is in the wrong orientation, so just unwind the SE-R and replace it with the SR.
Spring Pics:
SR spring is on the Right and you can see the 90 degree bend that the Sentra spring does not have. spring removed:
after bolting everything back on...4 bolts plus 2 coolant lines, here is the finished product.
the only thing I didn't discuss is the hookup of the TPS sensor, but it's easy. I had a SAFC, so just checked idle voltage and when I bolted it back on the SE-R TB, just set it to the same voltage at idle. I didn't rewire anything, since the SR tps fits.
Voltage that I had :0% throttle: 0.380-0.390V100%: 3.975-3.880V
hope this helps some people
