Decided to do s14 SR20det swap into my s14. I bought a SR from a crashed 240. With some mods on it already. (will make new build thred later)
The motor came with a hacked up harness, the previous owner was trying to put it into a s13 shell that I also bought, but ran out of funds and time. I tryed to fix the harness myself, but decided it would take too long ( Different color wires spliced together, speaker wire, not taped. A huge mess) And decided to buy a new one, from MyNismo.

The Trans Harness Didnt look too bad. It didnt have a speed sensor plug, so I took one off the KA. I repinned the interior connector according to the guide on NICO. And plugged everything in, then I noticed that there is a lot of connectors that dont go anywhere. Another thing is that After everything was plugged in, I hooked up the battery, After cranking the car a few times, One of the coils started to burn. At the time the coil cover was on so there was thick white smoke comming from the back of the engine. I unplugged the battery right away. And pulled the coil. (Never heard of a coil burning) the coil had melted pretty bad taking the connector with it.

Here are pics:

That sucks that the coil got toasted, at least you know where the problem is though. I don't know much about the blacktop sr connectors or I'd help you out with what they plug into. Something is probably wired backwards on the coil, like a ground on a 12v line. Check that over.

Hopefully someone can chime in with more expertise. Nice s14 btw.

People do it, but it seems those guys only post when something of theirs is broken. The s13 motors are MUCH more common for the simple fact that if you're going to build it, the S14 motor doesn't really give you too many advantages.

I got a really good deal on it. I wont be doing any upgrades for a while. I drove bouth VCT and non, and much prefer VCT.
And it already comes with a bigger ball bearing turbo. I'm only looking for about 300 HP. the rest will be suspension.

Good luck... I'm guessing you got your wiring issue fixed? If not, I recommend you contact David(Om3ga) or Yury(Wiring Specialties) at wiring specialties..
