Considering swapping a SR20VET from a S15 into my baby. It costs less to swap aZ22 but I'm looking at reliability with some power. Would I have to cut the sump and oil line???

I think you mean sr20Det, the VE is FWD. Also, don't get a z22, those aren't the most popular swap for a reason. You should throw the crank from the z22 into an L20 block and have an L22 stroker. You can do whatever you want though. I just didn't want you to go and purchase a "VET" and end up with a front wheel drive block. Hell, I'm not even sure they are different because I don't own any sr20. I'm not trying to sprout any misinformation here.

The motor from an X-Trail? Of which weren't sold here.

S13, S14, S15 came with SR20DEt's but S15 got VVT and 6spd.(its wider too)

Not that it means anything to most people, but S15 6spd trans are weaker than the 5spd and more prone to "problems". All that really means is keep your trans fluid clean, clear of debris, and filled, no worries.

You will need a custom oil pan, custom oil pickup, custom motor/transmission mounts.

You will need a new driveshaft, rewire your truck to run on the SR20 ecu and make a new gauge panel or convert all your gauges to work.

You will need a better fuel pump, bigger flowing filter, your gonna need a new custom exhaust a 720 exhaust will not flow enough.

I dont think the stock 720 diff will put up with it, you will most likely need to pull the diff and have the pin that breaks welded or swap to a toyota or domestic car/truck axle.

Figure what you think it will cost, double it, then add half. That's what it will cost you to complete this, unless you have all the tools and fabrication skills.

Thanks for the feed back. It is a RWD Sr20VET, was told it was from a S15. I didnot know the tranny is weaker. Thanks for that. I already purchased the diff from a toyota Prado (the rear discs are huge and can take about 450 hp) to swap. I intend to change even the fuel lines so no problems. Will source a 5 speed tranny though. Thanks guys.

I'm just passing along some hearsay. I'm sure people drift on the 6speed all the time. Just don't be pissed when it explodes a gear dropping the clutch at 3.5k+rpm.

I wouldn't be worried about a new trans unless that one doesn't work.

I would love a 6speed for the ratios.

yeah a six speed would be sick in a 720 it could use the extra gear on the highway.

but from the research that i have done you want an SRT20DET not a VET

i'm looking for the higher revs with the power necessary for drifting. the vet is better with a short ram plenum and 4 into 1, 1 1/2 custom headers and 3" mandrel bent exhaust for the sick power. will consider cams, pulleys h rods valves and other extras later.

400 eh? only the motor or motor and tranny. dont have a tranny for the sr. guy with the vet is not seperating the engine from the tranny.
