My car is still undergoing the finishing touches of a heart transplant . Its been in the shop for a month now. I got alot of stuff from this guy for free though; free hks fmic, free high performance upgraded 91 ecu, freejdm s13 signal lights, free hks intake kit, and i got a 3 piece set of s14 seats for $150. My car is said to be ready anyday now, hes just awating the ECU arrival. I was about to get some cusco comp s coilovers for $400 but those were for the s14 :( . of course i never paid upfront, i 1st paid half, then pay the 2nd half upon expection. Im going to get a tune up after i pick up my car from my private mechanic. My daily driver temp. is a 1987 NIssan MAXIMA!!!! O well, at least that thing has power windows and a sunroof too, same as my car. What things should i look to replace when i get my tune up????

you are having a swap done, and the guy isn't tuning it up for you? that seems a little shady to me

A month is not that bad! My friends Jetta was down for 3 months when he was gettin his turbo put on, and then another month in the body shop after they ****ed up his car. He misssed the entire show season because of his car being in the shop. And the guy who did ur swap should have done a tune up on ur car. Is there aany reason why he isnt.

Do you need to have the HKS intake kit if you want to use the HKS filter??

if the ECU is not tuned for the engine you've got then it's nothing more then a paperweight unless that "private machanic" doing the swap can retune the ECU which I doubt. Might as well buy a stock replacement.

no idea what snapshot of parts means

Yes, HKS intake takes HKS Filters

a month.. my car has been in the shop for the same damn time as well.. ... I paid less so I am getting that "friend" treatment and I hate it... I want my car NOW but I can't complain too much... in anycase.. if you are getting a great deal on the swap then it's ok if not then you are getting screwed.... take your car to someone that knows someone so they can check out the work. that's wht I am going to do... I don't know the shop but I know it's in Oxnard... My friend who got me the hook up on the swap knows the shop.. his car has been tuned there... When I find out which shop it wil go to, I can let you know as well...

Im getting my swap done at http://www.jprmotor.com

its in La habra, CA

Yeah its a been about a month and few weeks now. I dropped off my car there on October 17 and its November 20!! Yeah Black240 its the same situation with me, im getting the same "friend" treatment bc i paid less and but i guess its tolerable bc im getting extras bc of the delay. so far the guy installing my engine has given me Hks intake kit, Hks intercooler, and jdm 180sx corner lights free of charge and he gave other great discounts too for my greddy gauges and my s14 seats. he also told me to bring my new bumper so that hes install it free of charge bc ive waited for so long. So i guess its a good deal. Oh and the ECU is imported from Japan from an sr20det, he got the ecu yesterday and he installed it today. My bad i was vague, i didnt really mean retune, what i wanted from my private mechanic is a summary of all my aftermarket performance parts in my car and a diagnostic. My private mechanic isnt doing the swap hes just going to revise the guys work who performed my swap.

I alos went to teh shop today to view my cars progress. So while i was overlooking all of the components and work hes dne so far he asked me if i wanted to hear the engine start. Im like " YES", ahaha he started the car and nontheless it was a very satisfying sound from my engine and my hks bov. It was just a tease that i got from my sr so i know when i finally pick up my car the wait and $$ will be worth it.
