ey everyone, im about to start the sr swap on my 91 240, i was wondering what people with the sr swap did about there radiator... most people probally bought a new aluminum one i know the stock one wont fit unless you disconect the radiator shroud. so i was thinking of keeping the stock one disconecting the radiator shroud so it fits and getting rid of the mecanical fan and getting a good electric fan. has anyone done it this way? how have you done it?

you can keep the stock radiator, use the sr shroud and you should be done. the hoses, you can use the stock lower ka hose, the upper one you can get a new sr one or get some 90 degree bend hoses and a pipe if you do that you'll probably need to cut the shroud a bit to make everything fit.

mine runs 190-210 all the time. I ran 2 12" electic fans and never had a problem. When it is real hot it will run 210 but never over that

Dude i have a stock sr swap complete with smic stock ka radatior and a 14" permacool. It never runs hot. Im in New Orleans and in traffic at least 3-5 times a week for 30 min or more. Havent had any complaints.

Same here, I'm using the stock raditor, the 90 degree bends for the upper rad hose, 14" permacool fan and no shroud. It's been pushing high 80s and 90s here in MD and i haven't had one problem with it getting too hot, even while in traffic or hard driving.

I did use an additive to my water (kind of like Redlines Water wetter) and that may be helping too.

i have the front mount and dont have any problem. I cut two oval holes in bumper to let more air onto the radiator.

I put a blacktop into my friends 91 240 with a stock radiator. He wanted to keep the SMIC so I had to make a new intercooler pipe out of pvc to keep the intake piping from hitting the radiator. I have a pic of it if you want me to send it to you or if someone wants to host it. I told my friend to keep the stock radiator just in case anything happens to it, he wouldn't have to dish out $300+ for another aftermarket radiator; he can just go to a junkyard and get another one.

I've got a greddy v-spl front mount ic also, and it doesn't get hot. That's not saying someone in Arizona in 100º weather won't have problems, but the fmic doesn't cause me problems...
