hey guys.. new member here in need of some desperate help..

I have a 94 EDM 200sx with a CA18det

several months ago i bought an SR20DET (black top) and swapped it in and was running it off the CA ecu and Wiring

then recently i purchased an Entire 98 180SX front clip with the intent of swappin the ECU and wiring and keeping the rest as spare...

So me and a friend tore the car up and pulled out the wiring and ECU of both cars... (real pain in the butt on my car cuz the ABS sits right above the firewall hole for the harness)

the Throttle body of the 2 engines were diff so i swapped them too... only to discover that the Harness for the 3 clips behind the battery were Totally diff... (unlike the 240 which plugs right in)

anyway.. so i followed the srwap.com guide and did the under dash wiring and the fuse box wiring..

couldn't get the car to start...

i needed the car and got desperate and swapped back to the CA18 wiring and ecu... but now Cylinder #1 doesn't fire, I checked the wiring.. the ground pin and power pin of the coil works but the 3rd pin with the "pulse" to send spark is dead...

i tore the harness from top to bottom lookin for faults.. and i'm stumped... then i realized something:

the CA18's PTU is apart of a "secondary" harness on teh chasis of the car unlike the Sr20's where the PTU is part of the harness... and that i had tried running the car on 2 PTU's at the same time... :( i'm wondering if it's possible that i damaged the CA's PTU and or it was teh reason teh car wouldn't start?

any ideas would be helpful... thanks guys

one:I'm amazed you got the CA ECU to even run the SR. Then again, the CA and SR use the same PTU (that's the ignitor chip for us 'muricans).

What I would suggest doing is getting ahold of a 200sx wiring diagram from http://www.zeroyon.com and an S13 wiring diagram from http://www.jimwolftechnology.com. From the sounds of it, you've got a short in the CA subharness for the PTU. Check for a constant between the number one pin (it's the black wire coming off the PTU) and the black wire (it should be the right side pin) of the #1 coil pack.

i'm a fountain of something. not many call it knowledge :pface

I just finished wiring an SR swap in which I was using a pulsar ignitor. It took a while to figure out the wire colors, but after some continuity checking and FSM reading, I got it to work. Had to make up a new subharness to run it though since I'm using the KA engine harness
