as stated i just got my sr swap done and it runs nice and everything but now the steering wheel wont turn i traced the problem to a hard line that runs from the transmisson up to at thing mounted on the right side of the valve cover its also got vacuum and a intake hose hooked to it what should i do thanks

Well first thing is..... you do mean it turns but it is very difficult to turn right?

What I am thinking is I would go ahead and replace that vacuume line if it needs it or not. Sometimes they are cracked and you wouldent be able to tell and there usually a vacuum line is required for power assist. I had a problem similar to that in my Monte Carlo with the braking system. You could also try to disconnect the line and start the car with a vacuum meter attached to see what pressure you are getting.

(Please keep in mind thats what id try first, and that I am basing that on my experience working on american cars. )

Good luck man.

The S series DOES NOT use a vacuum assisted steering system. Commonly cheap SR swaps into 89-90 chassis, the installer does not connect the "high pressure power steering line" because a different line is needed than is provided with the chassis or the motor.

Ask your installer if he connected the:*High Pressure line*Power steering belt*low pressure and fluid tank

This is MORE than likely your problem.

The ONLY other possibility is that some poorly fabricated or custom down pipe that is obstructing the steering rack input shaft.

The latter is least likely.

its a 98 sr black top and the wheels dont turn at all there is a hard line that is jamed into the steering shaf so the steering wheel turns a little but all it does is rock the engine back and forth like it dosn't turn at all

Yea. Those need to be cut and blocked off.

The SR does not use EGR, its exhaust gas air injection, which i am assuming you did not use during the swap, and have probably since blocked off on the intake pipe.

yes i have since blocked it off and got the problem fixed but now i ran into a new one not to major but just wondering if there is a more correct way of goin about it the output shaft on the transmission has a dust coller that does not allow the driveshaft to slid in all the way the sleeve hits the bolts on the slip yoke flange is there a way to pop this off or is it sawzall time
