From my knowledge, I believe you have to remove the dust cap anyway. I know I had to remove the dust cap for my DSS driveshaft to fit into the transmission.

The SR dust collar will not work if your using a KA driveshaft. You have to pull the collar off your KA and put it on your SR transmission for it to fit. The KA driveshaft has that bushing deal in it that prevents the SR collar from fitting. You could cut your SR collar to fit b/c all it is is a peice of plastic that is meant to keep debris and dust from collecting on the neck of the driveshaft which could possibly work its way in between the driveshaft and where it goes into the transmission. As far as the leaking goes the dust collar won't fix that. The dust collar doesn't create any sort of seal to prevent leaking, it just protects from dust. I forgot to install mine when I put my swap in, but I really don't think its gonna be a major issue to drive around without it. Next time your under the car and you feel ambitious, drains your fluid, pull the driveshaft, clean the shaft part off that goes into the transmission and put the KA dust collar on the transmission. I plan on upgrading to a one peice alum shaft anyway and I'll just replace the collar then.
