hey guys, i just finished my swap and got it running! only thing is its running like crap. There seems to be an excess amount of engine vibration. Also, my car sounds like theres a leak in the manifold, but i dont think there is. IT sounds like a wrx with exhaust, and i know it shouldn't because ive owned an SR before :-\ what could cause excess engine vibration? feels like resistance wen i give it gas..... could it be timing? another thing im scared of is that it might be friction inside the engine. I had to remove the head because of a bolt that was broken.... my mounts are new nismo mounts. I dunno why it shakes so much. What about a bad o2 sensor? could that cause unusual situations? im at a loss..... I really hope theres no damage within.... because i know friction = bad

well it is not your mounts, the viberation could be a myrid of things, so all you have to do is make you you don't drive it until you figure it out. here are a few things you can look at.spark plugs. chek them to see if they all look the same if they don't then that could be the cause.

timing. i am not very familiar with the sr timing, so i can't give you any advise.

make sure your coil packs are not damaged,

that is about all i can think of for a shaky engine, good luck

ok, been reading a bit more now, seeing that similar symptoms arise with things such as injectors and coil packs and spark plugs.....

ok, I think its either my coil pack or injector, because when i unpluged the injector #1, nothing changed, but the rest made the car run crappy. hopefully it is either of those small problems.... or maybe the harness....

Injector #1 is probably leaking. Replace the o-ring seal and I bet the problem goes away. It you want to check to see if its leaking, unbolt the fuel rail (BE VERY SURE NOT TO DROP/LOSE THE PLASTIC SPACERS UNDER IT THAT THE BOLTS GO THROUGH) and lift the injectors out of the manifold. Now, while holding it above the manifold so that the injectors are in line with the holes, have a friend go turn the key on. You should see the spray pattern of the injectors and if one is leaky, it'll be a drip rather than a stream.

check timing

then check if you installed your cams correctly with the marks, if not you'll get what you'er experiencing

ok, injector is firing, coil pack is sparking. i am absolutely getting no combustion in cyl #1, my stainless steel manifold is bronze on 3 tubes, but not the first telling me there is no heat there. Could timing cause a cylinder not to fire? i dont understand how there is completely no firing. The other 3 cylinders are working perfectly.....

check to make sure you're getting spark in cylinder 1 if not check the ignitor and the coil pack (most likely).

if it turns out you're getting spark, it's probably your fuel injector.

coil packs spark, i might try a new ignitor chip? already tested injector and coilpack on #1, work fine....

check compression, sounds like a bad cam install and valves being open at the wrong time.
