SR start up trouble

A friend of mine just put in a SR in his s13.he's using the Q45 ignitor and the 89 SOHC maf.everything is wired up to the heavy throttle specs but it still won't turn on.It's getting fuel and spark and back fires through the exhaust like it want s to turn on but nothing.

does anyone know what could be wrong or what we should check out?

check the timing

^^^^^^^Yup, align the needle rite over ur pully to the second dot from the pulley(left to right) and line up the CAS, just keep adjusting the timing after that by turning the CAS till u get it.. Trial n error. I'm pretty sure 0 degrees is second dot, someone correct me if i'm wrong.
