Hey guy´s

running into a few problems with my SR20DET. Biggest one being that it sounds like a diesel engine and it idles ruff. Also seems like it is burning some oil in the vavles as white smoke comes out of the exhaust when I start up the car. Any help would be appreciated to help figure out what it is and how to fix it. Sr20det is a black top from a 1996 European Model Zenki.

Thanks for your time,-Terry

Check to make sure all of your injectors are working and also check your timing to be sure its where it needs to be.

The injectors work fine, I do believe that the problem I am having could be due some sort of problem with the timing. I have heard though that this is a common problem in european model S14´s. I know of a few people here in Spain whose sr20det´s idle ruffly and should like diesel engines.

Thanks,-Terry

Check the timing out and if its set right but is jumping around randomly or throwing weird signal when you hookup into the ECM you might be looking at worn out cams, chain, tensioner, or any combination of the above.

Yeah mine seems to be idling ruffly to and sounds like a diesel i have experienced problems with my timing, like i would set it and it would be perfect or just about and still it idle ruffly but i have found that it's more than likely my MAF sensor cause i need to get a s14 but what i'm running is a sohc ka which is making the airflow all jacked so u may want to check that sensor and be sure that it's the s14 sensor!!!!!
