I am getting my swap this coming week and I was curious to what is the most common component to fail over time? ex.) water pump, timing chain, .etc. I will be pushing it occasionally so I would like to take care of such things while the engine is out.

Check the oil pan for dents as even the smallest dent can screw with the oil pickup. Replace with a new stock one or if you want, get a high capacity oil pan with baffles to keep oil in the center of the pan under hard cornering.

Its good to replace the water pump and upgrade the cooling system(bigger radiator, electric fan, new thermostat etc.) as overheating is a weakpoint of the sr20det as well.

The 4 hole turbo gasket likes to blow out and isnt any fun to change while its inside the engine bay. Also,If your going to be pushing your car and reving high I would put some in rocker arm stoppers as well.

Of course, change all fluids,oil filter, fuel filter, sparkplugs, and get some gauges to monitor your readings.

might want to consider chaning your oil pump and water pump while the engine's out.

yea ive heard storeis about oil pumps, but imnot replacing mine until i can afford/need to

its probably not teh best idea, but my engine is runnign so strong and teh shop i got it from says its teh strongest theyve ceom across in a while.......

if you plan to up boost as previosuly stated and rev high, gaskets should be redone

So I guess most importantly would be water pump, oil pump, and a after market oil pan....where can I get the pan?

Call up the sponsors, im sure a bunch of em have greddy high capacity units or stock ones in good condition.
