My SR is running very rich, it goes up to 2,500 rpms and stumbles past backfiring at times past 2,500 rpms. I just switched out the fat O2 sensor with the skinny O2 sensor (Blacktop motor with 62 ecu). Didn't do anything. Cleaned the MAF, didn't do anything.

I'm planning on checking the following when theres a warm day:1. Checking and attaching all grounds2. Clamping down all hoses3. Checking MAF wiring4. Checking O2 Sensor wiring all the way to the ecu

Questions:1. What else can I add to check on the list besides the base timing.2. How can I tell if I have a redtop or blacktop harness?3. Does anyone have a E5 blacktop ecu pin out?

thanks to everyone who can help.

I was having the same problem with mine. But mine would hit 3,000 rpm and basically just hit a wall, and idled HORRIBLE, WAYYYY to much fuel. But I would check your MAF first.

That's what was wrong with mine, I check my MAF wiring, and it was wrong, then realized I had the wrong maf. Try and unplug the MAF and see if it will run better. If it goes to 2,500 and just stops then something is wrong with your MAF, the ECU is in safe mode basically.

Check that stuff and get back with us!

might be a bad maf. what maf are you using cause it sounds like its going into limp mode..you could always check the ecu for codes.

To check the ecu for codes:

Turn the key to power the ecu onGrab the ecu and Take small screw driver and turn the little nob counter/clockwise untill the led light turns off then turn it back and the led will start blinking codes.

heres a link for the codeshttp://www.240sxmotoring.com/ecufaultcodes.html
