on a cold *** day when i go to start my car it runs like ****. This only happens on first startup and when its colder than normal, other than that the car runs great. When i start the motor it sounds kinda different and it doesnt idle like it should on a cold start, matter a fact it idles lower than it does when its warmed up. id say at about 500rpms or lower. After sitting for a bit its fine. Wondering if anybody else has or has had this problem and is there a fix.

cars like any other sr, front mount, walbro fuel pump, stock injectors, stock turbo, full 3inch exhaust, plugs gapped .028, sr mafs.

My mods are the same as yours and mine runs crappy on cold start during colder weather as well. mine just hesitates and sputters if i apply load and throttle to the motor but after a minute or two of running its fine.

check coolant temp sensor resistance and compare to fsm values . if inconclusive substitute a known good MAF then go from there

where does your car idle when its warmed up? 500 rpm less than 700-800 rpm is pretty damn low. I would figure you would stall.

SR's run like crap when they are cold. I let my car idle (until its at regular operating temps) before I even move it. If it is really cold out they will act a little funny upon starting up but they should be fine after your car warms up.

However if you are starting on a cold day and your car is idling at 2-300 rpm? then you have a problem. Cold days should produce a higher idle until they are warmed. Also, if you don't have a turbo timer, you could invest in one. They are good for warming the car up as well as preventing oil collection from cooling down too fast. crank it leave it and comeback to a nice warm car.
