Cooling system specs:

Koyo Radiator, New waterpump, Nismo 147 degree thermostat, Flex-a-lite dual 12in 2500cfm fans.

Well after I did my swap with my Altima fans I was running around 150 degrees warmed up. My Altima fans died and I got a set of FAL fans. well now I'm lucky if I can get this SOB upto 130 degrees warmed up...

I'm really worried about running to cold.. how much more engine wear would I really have running this cold?

combustion will not be at it's peak due to running well under what the engine is supposed to be at right?

How worried about this should I be? Also how should I go about making it run warmer? ditch the expensive Nismo thermostat?

Run a warmer thermostat, and have the fans only come on at aroun 190 degrees and off at 170.

I'm guessing your fans are on all the time? <130 seems pretty low, even with a nismo t-stat.

heh, last january my t-stat's rubber disintegrated, allowing water to just keep running by it. because of that, my car wouldn't heat up at all (which sucks to not have heat in january btw). A new t-stat and all is fine.

but out of curiosity. Kenrik, have you checked into adding a temp switch that will turn your fans on at a specific temp? having your fans run while the car is on can be a huge drain on your battery.

If you do go this route, make sure not to put the relay that controls the switch near anything hot or it wont switch on. And when I say anything hot I mean around 150 (which is anywhere near the engine bay). I tried to protect it by putting it under the intake but it still acted up after driving the car for more than an hour. I paid $80 for that unit from enjuku but my fans are currently hardwired to a switch. The sensitivity of this unit to heat is ridiculous in terms of practical use. I'm sure you can get it to work, but not without much trouble.

ditch the thermostat, personally, i would rather have it running closer to oem specs. and make sure your fans come on with a thermostatic switch. your oil wont heat up all the way either, causing it to be a little thicker than normal, possibly robbing horsepower (hardly noticeable).

Ehh the oil heats up fine (well atleast the pressure goes down to 20~Psi @ idle) but yeah it's running cool.. I'm not to happy about replacing the thermostat because it's a ***** to bleed the cooling system again/wait for the sealant to dry etc..

I was looking @ a switch made by flex-a-lite that you can set what temp they come on... That seems like the best way to go because I can set it so they don't come on untill a higer temp.

Thank You!!! Just today this happened to me and I was like WTF?!?! I have mine located next to the battery, which for some reason is too hot...But yeah I'm putting mine somewhere else. Now where to put it?
