My set up is as follows:

S13 SR20DET btnismo thermostatKoyo RadiatorPermacool 14' + thermostat relay

My car is running very hot. I have to run with heater on full blast to just to keep the temp @ 3/4 of the stock gauge. What can be wrong with it?

Any one has any clue?

thanks,

Stock gauge is useless, try getting an aftermarket one to see what your real temps are.

Jspec, you should know this.

Kylaris - The S13 SR temp sensor doesnt read on the same scale as your s14 gague cluster. Swap to S14 sensor.

So it is just gauge fault, nothing major? The radiator is really hot though. I can't keep my finger on it for more than 1 sec.

I guess, I will just get the aftermarket and see.Btw what is normal sr20det temp?

thanks,

I cant promise that the gauge is the only problem, and obviously running hte car in that state of overheat (if it is really overheating ) will grenade your motor.

What i can tell you is that the S13 sensor shows super high temps on the S14 gauge. And thats where I think you should start. IF you are silly enough to drive your car without KNOWING it isnt overheating the results are your fault!!

Its normal for the radiator to be hot, I'm pretty sure the water should be at 80-110 F

80-110? The temp should read close to whatever your thermostat is. Think about it. If you have a 180* thermo.. The cooling process wont start till 180.

koyo 2 core gets pretty damn hot. I mistakenly put my hand on the "KOYO" lettering when I was checking over some stuff on the motor and wasn't paying attention to the pain in my right hand from the burning when I realized what was happening I saw the words "KOYO" in darker red colors than the rest of my hand. If it's really hot to the touch, don't worry too much, that's pretty normal for the aluminum radiators.

actually the pump and thermostats been replaced about 2 days a go. It was over heating according to the stock gauge even after change.

I put digital thermostat on the radiator frame so I can see how hot it gets(couldn't buy the water temp meter yet). And it was around 80-85C. So I believe the water should be around 95C at most.

just out of curiosity, did you bleed the cooling system properly?

You have to fill the cooling system with the lil bolt on the cast inlet coolant housing undone. Once it starts streaming from the hole, u plug it up and keep on filling. Otherwise you create pockets of air in the head etc. No good!

I just filled it up and ran the car for short period of time then refilled it.

Doesn't this work as well?

Have some1 watch your gauge and you watch the fan and see if the fan is coming on as the temp starts tor rise. Maybe your fan isnt working right. I have a permacool as well and it was doing that for 2 days then it started working right all of sudden...go figure?

Are you using an S14 temp sensor? Ive heard that the S14 gauge will read wrong when you have an S13 sensor feeding it.

nope, I'm not running s14 sensor.

That seems to be causing it, since the digital thermostat, I hooked up to the upper radiator hose seems to be around 95C or below, yet the stock gauge says I'm overheating.Around 90C and up the stock gauge is @ H and higher. Which makes me worry a bit.
