HI GUYSIM NEW HERE AND WANTED TO ASK U GUYS A QUESTION< I BOUGHT A USED S13 89 HATCH WITH AN SR20DET ALREADY INSTALLED BUT THE THING IS THAT THE GUY HAD A BIG TURBO SET UP ON IT WITH A FEW STUFF THAT WERE REALLY POORLY MADE , ALSO THE OTHER THING WAS THAT LATER HE TOLD ME THE CAR DID NOT HAVE AN SR20DET ECU, IT WAS BEING MANAGED BY A KA24E ECU AND HAS A DISTRIBUTOR INSTEAD OF COILS,WICH I DONT KNOW IF ITS RIGHT OR NOT. THE THING IS I CHANGED THE OLD EBAY SHET TURBO KIT FOR STOCK COMPONENTS ( T25,MEGAN HEADER AN o2 HOUSING) THE CAR RAN PRETTY FINE WITH THE OLD SETUP BUT NOW WHEN I START IT UP I HAVE TO FEATHER THE THROTLE IN ORDER TO GET IT START UP , ALSO WENT RUNNIG IF I LET OF THE THROTTLE AFTER MAKING BOOST THE CAR THROWS FLAMES AND BANGS ALL OVER AND THE IDLE TURNS TO CRAP FOR A MOMENT THE STABILISES AGAIN, ALSO THE SPARK PLUGS GET DRENCH IN GAS AND MAKES THE START UP A BI**TCH!

JUST WANTED TO KNOW WHAT DO U GUYS RECOMENDE ME DOING ?IS IT TIMING?BOOST?BROKEN ENGINE? (THE IDLE SOUND DECENT)

THANKS FOR THE HELP

SAM

Protip: People like you more when you turn your caps lock off

Did he mention if the ECU is retuned to run stock SR injectors? If he didn't, that would account for your richness during boosting situations.

If you want to stick with the ka ecu and distributor, JWT can reflash it for you to make it work properly.

Also, the bog you're having is related to the rich condition.

Personally, I would try to get ahold of an SR ECU, wiring harness, and ignition setup. Distros are fine and all, but for a turbo setup direct fire ignition is superior

I'm willing to bet on two things:

1. Timing

2. Your BOV is set to vent open, fast and furious style (which explains the bogging)

Our stock ignition system isn't exactly known to be the best as far as coilpack setups goes. It certainly isn't a GM setup for sure

The KA distributer mod (which JWT actually outlines in thier FAQ section) works extremely well, as is just as good/reliable.

However, good point about the ecu not being tuned for the injectors and or MAF....another good thing to look for.

If you cannot get the sr ecu wiring harness etc.(Which i think is the best thing), a cool thing to have to control the idle problem is the HKS ELectronic Idle Stabilizer.

If you have a vent to atmosphere BOV, the MAF sensor freaks out when it recognizes dramatic increases/decreases in the intake when boosting. this is when backfiring and stuttering with the idle occurs. This is why the motor runs rich as well.

The EIDS remaps the MAF sensor programming and sets things in sound motion when you boost, and also when your at a stop and idling.

Or set the BOV to re-circulate. I like the vent to atmosphere because i am immature and think the sound is cool(it's about having fun right? ) and the EIDS helped out.

Hope that helps the bogging problem.

Your ECU should be tuned for your mods. Are you running a stock or premodded ecu?

...hhhmmmmm

40 bucks to recirculate verus buying an expensive bandaide from HKS to make up for ricer tendencies.....
