Will the KA Reverse Lamp Switch work on my SR transmission?http://www.courtesyparts.com/3....html

I have traced my reverse light problem down to the reverse sensor/switch.I have a manual switch to connect the two wires on the switch, and everything works correctly. So I want to replace the switch out.I tested the reverse sensor for continuity between the two wires when the car is in reverse and nothing. Tried with it off and also in accessory. The weird thing is that this is a replacement sensor that I purchased from someone online. The one that came with the motor was beat up and didn't have the plug. Neither of them measure continuity when pushed in. Hopefully I just have 2 bad switches.

I've done a lot of searching on this topic and have fought with this problem for 3 weeks now. I also had to repair the grounds on the reverse bulb sockets. I've been through the whole system, and have finally narrowed it down.

Also had to tear apart the passenger side turn light housing and reseal them to fix a leak (twice), and now I have a burnt headlight.I'm just trying to get my car inspected, the sticker on the car is from 2002!!!

Thanks for any help in advance.

A KA switch will work fine.

If you want to eliminate the switch as a suspect though, here's an easy test. Unplug the switch from your harness and use a jumper to complete the circuit on the harness plug. If your lights come on, you know you have a bad switch. If not, you know you have something else to track down.

I had a similar issue recently where I thought a bad reverse switch was blowing my reverse lamp fuse. Upon replacement, my fuses continued to pop, and it turned out to be a bare wire in the stop lamp 12v side of the circuit that was causing a short in the stop lamp side (hooray for shared grounds). Since you've mentioned you're having wiring issues already that you've fixed, you may need to delve further into the harness to make sure this isn't a gremlin. My bare wire had rubbed through from the scissor jack, so it took a bit of work to get to it and find it.

Of course, I would consider doing all the harness checking after you've tested the harness plug as a completed circuit.

That's exactly what I did, and the reverse lights worked fine.

Thanks, I'll be ordering the KA Reverse Lamp Sensor now. $40 shipped =(

FRSPORT was able to find me a SR20DET Reverse Lamp Sensor. Hopefully it comes in ASAP and I can try it out. Now to fix my burnt headlight and exhaust like so that I can get inspected!

Ordered some Hella 7x6 H4 conversion housings and a full OEM gasket kit.trying to do things right the first time...
