i dont know if this questions has been asked, pretty sure it has, but im wanting to do a sr swap in my 92 hatch and was wandering whats the difference in the redtop and blacktop motors? i know theres some differences in the head and the turbo, but is there that much more performance out of the blacktop to make it more expensive or does it take better to mods than the redtop. im more than happy with my ka24de and was gonna turbo it but its got 212,000 miles on it and i dont think it would take to well to boost. any help with this will be appreciated, thanks

Definitely read the sticky! Also please research for info on blacktops being somewhat newer to much newer and usually price will reflect this.

Generally speaking, when you're buying an engine, you'd like to pick the newest and best condition for the price. Just like produce at the grocery store. Blacktops happen to be the newest and this translates to less wear & tear, with exceptions of course..

I like the new sig showing your car, SR_Smith. Until maybe a week ago, I didn't even know what you had or what it looked like.
