Post

So I have been looking around for quite a while now but couldn't really find the answers to my questions. I only found one other post(maybe not using the right keywords) that was close to what I am looking for.

I want to know if you had say 3-4k, what would be the parts you would swap out first when doing an sr swap. I am going to swap a Red Top SR into my 1995 S14. List the parts from most important to least important. These are the parts that I was thinking of using from the get go to produce a strong, street-able 240. Again, this includes maintenance parts also...not just power adders so take that into consideration. Please provide your input if you think I should add something.

Parts list
Walbro Fuel Pump*
Z32 Fuel Filter*
NGK Iridium Spark Plugs
Greddy Oil Filter
Mishimoto Radiator*
Mishimoto Dual Fan Kit
Adjustable Dual Electric Fan Kit
Z32 MAF Sensor
OEM Thermostat
Clutch master and slave cylinder*
OEM Belt kit
Heater Hose Kit

Perfomance
Intercooler(custom piping)
Isis Intake Manifold
Greddy Type S BOV w/ Flange
Spec Stage 2 Clutch Kit
Spec Billet Steel Flywheel
Tomei Expreme Exhaust Manifold
Tomei Expreme Turbine Outlet Pipe
APEXi GT Spec Down Pipe
APEXi GT Spec Exhaust System*
Ross Tuffbond Harmonic Balancer
Cusco Motor Mounts
APEXi Turbo Timer
AEM Wideband*

Ideas:
Rocker Arm Stoppers
APEXi Power FC
Fluids(not sure but need Diff., oil, coolant)
Upgraded Turbo in the future
Pulley Kit
Oil Catch Can
Stainless Turbo Lines
Aluminum Drive shaft

So the Items with the Asterisk(*) are the items I already have. I am going to buy everything listed above the ideas in the next month or so. Is there anything you would recommend or anything I should reconsider? I have also chosen the brands for a reason so I don't need to hear about getting one brand over another. I just want to know what the best product is. I have the money to get what I need so it also isn't a thread about "if I had money, what should I get." I am asking for help so please let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Andrew

Rocker arm stoppers should be higher up the list,(somewhere near the top) and you can get a set for under well under $100. The z32 maf also won't be of much use without some form of tuning; mail order ecu tune, or the power fc, but I would stay away from anything labeled safc. (unless you want to hack up a perfectly good harness and use an inferior method to adjust fueling to maintain proper afr's)

Basics to get it running
(assuming you bought a motorset)
-Walbro Fuel Pump
-Intercooler of some sort
-Downpipe

Recommend

-Rocker Arm Stoppers
-SR radiator & hoses (If you don't like the ugly hose going across)
-New Clutch
-New Water Pump
-New Thermostat
-New Motor mounts
-New Belts/Gaskets
-Z32 Fuel Filter
-Spark plugs
-FMIC/BOV
-Boost Gauge

I know I'm forgetting things, meh haha.

i agree with the rocker arm stoppers they should be higher up on the list. and i would also say the mounts should be pretty high because the other items you can install with the motor in the car. and also the more expensive parts like isis manifold should be a little higher because they will be a bigger load off to already have them

I would definitely buy a brand new wiring harness, it is nice to not have to worry about wiring problems.

Shameless plug lol.

But hes right, if i were doing a swap now that would be on the top of the list, just for the fact its one MAJOR headache you dont have to worry about.

not sure what your car has already but one of my biggest regrets with my swap was spending too much money on manifolds and stuff and not getting coils sooner. just a thought

lol yeah he's good at being a plug for a certain orifice.. :inoutgay:

Cooling-wise nothing bets the stock mechanical fan and good, working order fan clutch. Make sure to have those two and a complete SR fan shroud..

I agree with EnjoiNismo about the rocker arm stoppers, but i would get a nismo thermostat, master, and slave cylinder. Also i would get an apexi power intake cone filter as your intake. What you got in mind sounds great! Some of the ideas can wait for a while though. You dont need those to get going! Make sure when you get your motorset to check coilpacks, compression in cylinders, and if theres any shaft play in the turbo. etc.

I was looking at the SR wiring guide of FRSport, and the wiring doesn't look that bad. Is it really that much of a headache. It looks like you're only cutting/changing three or four clips, and extending two of them.

Me personally i hate dealing with wiring like that, and cutting and extending is not the hard part. Hell a trained monkey could do that the problem, for me at least, is ok i followed the guide and now it wont start. I usually have my electrician friends deal with that kinda crap.

If you feel confident by all means go ahead and start cutting and extending, I would rather plug and play when it comes to this.
