So I'm starting to think about the future and my car, and trying to think of a game plan. So please bare with me and my noobness, I'm not the smartest person.

Well any way on to my plan, during this upcoming fall/winter I plan to rebuild a sr, I want to rebuild it but not too crazy, I’m looking to build this motor to only handle about 280 daily and 330 at the track. Now I know some of you may be saying "you don’t need a rebuild for that much on a sr" but I want to be able to know my motor is healthy and boosting safely. I’ve been trying to do some research to figure out how I’m going to go about this and it seems that I would be fine rebuilding the bottom end stock and rebuilding the head a little more then stock. I’m not 100% sure that a stock bottom is the way to go or is it? So im just looking for a few ideas on how to do this, anyone have any ideas?

Also, I have to admit that im deadly afraid of rebuilding a motor as I have never done it before. So I guess I’m also going to be looking into a few local shops to have this done, unless of course I can make a friend that can help me with this. But if I do end up having a shop do it how much do you expect this rebuild to cost including rebuild parts and labor.

But right now I want to concentrate on a parts list of what I need for a stock rebuild of the bottom end and what part for the head.

Any help would be great. And if you like to plan to help me do this little project lmk. Because I would really like to this myself and learn a little more. Thanks

well this what was recommend to me

QUOTEIf you want to just to a stock rebuild:Engine gasket set (has pretty much everything, I'd upgrade to a metal headgasket though)New piston ringscrank bearingsGet all the cylinder walls honedupgrade to an S14 Chain tensionerNew water and oil pump if you want to be super sure everything is perfect.

does this seem right? and is there anything that should be added or taken out of this list??

that sounds about right where you wanna be, my advice, b4 you start tearing the engine apart to rebuild it, make sure you know what you are doing and or get someone else's help. cuz you don't want a ripped up engine in your hands

if you plan on taking this motor a part, it's a good i dea to take pictures before you take something off and ziplock most of the parts that can be and lable them.
