I finally found a fastback!:icesangel 500$ with running motor and pretty good shape for 500 smacks. needs a new radiator though. anyways, it has a lot of miles and i plan on swapping red top sr this summer.i did some research but didn't find any. if i get a sr koyo radiator would it work on the KA motor for now??

just a shot in the dark but.. I think you can if you route the top hose back the other way like the opposite of the SR swap. you would just have to be sure to clear the fan

but if it will work, I would buy the SR rad. instead of the KA rad. it'll save you moeny in the long run, and will look better when you get the redtop in.

Yeah, you can just route the hose from the driver side, over to the pass side, and you will be golden, It will look sloppy most likely, but it will look way better then a ka radiator once the swap is done.

I already tried it before because i got a good deal on a SR radiator. You would have to make a custom top hose and use a custom intake that doesnt go over the radiator. Pretty much relocating the intake to the right side, that is if you have room. You'd probably have to relocate the battery too.

Your best bet is to get a used KA radiator and then buy the Koyo SR radiator when you get your Red Top

well, heres the deal, when you do the sr swap, you have to relocate the battery anyway, and rigging up a short intake for that side is cake. You will kick yourself in the arse if you get a ka radiator and then have to spend more on the sr radiator later.

for stock SR radiator for KA is not a problem. Same adapting issue for Ka engine with SR radiator. Just opposite directions for hoses. People you dont need a big radiator for KA untill you go super N/A or turbo. You will have your KA running too cold with a radiator like the one you talkin about.

If I remember properly don't the upper radiator hoses on the KA come in from the side and the SR from the front? With that in mind, if you were to use HT's KA to SR radiator hose kit, you'd be able to use the pipe, and 90 degree elbow (to get from the rad to the pipe) and then use a wide U shaped hose to get to the thermo piping from there or cut the stock upper radiator hose to make it fit. Now as for the SR radiator running the KA too cold, that'd be the job of the thermostat. If you run something like a nismo or billion thermo, you'd then run the engine too cold. Use an oem thermo that opens at 70C (I think it's 70C vs 60C for the nismo and many aftermarket thermos) then it'd run just fine and gives you that extra bit of cooling capability with more fluid to transfer heat into.

180fan, good info. Hmmm... so if i have to relocate the battery anyways, I think Im going to do that first. with the battery out of the way, i can still mod the radiator to fit. Im definitely going to stick with the oem thermostat for now, and get a new one with the sr. Im still at my parents' house right now and my 240 was towed to my apartment at school. i don't have a chance to look at it right this instance so i'll have to look into the hose fitment.

If you're gonna hack up your old KA radiator hose, then I don't think there's a need to relocate your battery. For the SR swap, the only time you'll need to relocate your battery is because of FMIC piping. If you're going to get a FMIC, then you could move the battery but it's not necessary for the fitment of the SR radiator. You just lose the shroud to use the SR radiator on the KA that's all.
