Is it posible to take a FWD SR20DET and use it as RWD in a 91 240sx with a transmission swap?Or is it just better to get the RWD engine?I have seen one a lot cheaper than the RWD version.Im new to the SR but want to get one for my car. Thanks for your help.

sr engine is an sr engine no matter where you have it, fwd rwd awd.The difference is the mounts and the transmission. And of course you gonna need to change the ex as wellso fwd sr will work

Dude don't listen to that moron. Everything is different. I won't go into huge detail because its a waste of time but one thing I can tell you is that on a FWD SR the distributor is coming directly out of the back of the valve cover and connected to the exhaust cam. If you were to turn this motor and try and fit it into a 240sx the distributor would be right where the firewall is. Just get a drivetrain that was designed for your chassis.

by the time you convert it to RWD, wait, it's not even worth it, just go with the RWD version, it'll cost more to use the FWD version, because of all the conversions, fabrication, etc...

if you worried about making a cut into the firewall and welding a buldge into it then you shouldn't be doing swaps at all.if the price for the engine is right then go for it. 20 bucks in welding is not going to kill anyone. psi 240 i think you one of those who pays a shop to do the work and says whatever they say to rip you a new ******* into buying more expensive ****.i don't think that language is called for on your part because it really shows your level of intelligence.if an sr fwd can be fitted into an s12 then it sure as hell can be fitted into an s13

No, PSI is completely right and you are a ****ing idiot.

There is no reason use a FWD SR20 in a RWD car, the cost of fabbing up new motor mounts, the firewall mods (which are stupid anyway) and the may other necessary changes make it a waste.

And before you make some jack-*** comment, I work on all my own cars, the only thing I send it out for is paintwork since I don't have a paint-booth at home. I'm pretty damn sure Jay (PSI) does all his own work as well, in fact, i'm certain of it.
