oh boy has this question been answered eighteen million times............so many people are gonna tell you to search.........just for reference, there is a large button on the top flashing red with the words "search" also, 'HIJACKER', has done a very good writeup, answering alot of questions..... here is a link
zerothread/306956 or it is stickied to the top of our forum, so no fear you cannot get lost.
however i am bored and will answer a few questons
the only difference's that i know of between the s13 b\r top is the cooling fins up front, and the fact that the blacktops will "tend" to have lower miles on them. which obviously is good. and of course theit color hahahai would say yes, its better to buy a blacktop if your budget allows, however, if your gonna replace everything, save money and just grab an older one.
you can install any year sr into any year s chassis and then some. you can install it in a freaking geo metro if you wanted. but as far as the s chassis is concerned, the s13\14\15 can be put in any year. however the most difficult is the s15 into the other chassis because of the wiring and speed sensor. the gauges from the s13 b\r or the s14 slant back, will be compatible, as you swap the ka speed sensor into the sr transmission. s15 is another story. a\c is a bit of a trick but again there have been thousands of write ups, and your time looking it up would be more beneficial than me wasting my time answering these questions. if your good at wiring then you should have no problem, however if you do want to wire in abs and ac and you cant figure it out, we have a sponsor or two (wiring specialties, and taylor durdan,
search to find reviews) they can do all of it in a professional matter. haha what is needed for the swap? sorry if im being a d!ck, but reSEARCHING is needed, as well as new fluids. swaping the speed sensor, the coolant sensor (for the dash) either the stock intercooler or preferably an after market. wiring. radiator or cross over hoses. modifying the heater hoses. if you can spare it, new gaskets all around, new water pump (or if your really crazy timing assembly head gaskets and oil pump), thermostat, anything you want to do to the car or engine while its out and accessible, higher flow fuel pump. z32 fuel filter..... the list goes on and on for things that should be upgraded or replaced
because the chassis is virtually the same in america except for the power plant and the steering orientation, and nissan thought it would be a good idea to give us a lesser engine but keep engineering costs down and use the same mounting points. ALL MOUNTS ARE THE SAME. this is probably one of the easiest swaps to do.
i have never done an s14 sr20 swap into an s14 or anything else, but i have heard that the wiring is touchy because of the VTC, if you have the cash i would go with the slant back. and like i said if wires intimidate you send them to those who keep our forums free.
i apologize if i seemed like i was being a d!ck. but these questions have been answered a billion times. i searched everything before i did my swap and some did it before the info was out there. we are all most willing to help you with anything you have to do. i do wish you good luck... and have fun
