I'll start by letting everyone know I know nothing abou the KA, SR, or RB. I've heard about the SR20's being "red top", "black top", or "long block". As well as "front clips" being confusing terms to me and I'm confused as to what the difference is. It would be helpful if you could inform me of such as I am currently in the process of purchasing a '95 240SX. If anyone could link me to previous threads, that would be helpful as well or even helping me by explaining the process of the swap and what precautionary measures to take. Basically, if a 240SX For Dummies was out, I'd buy it right away, I would just like to know as many details as possible to avoid later mishaps. Thanks.

Ok, theres a few different sr20 with different things about them

s13 redtop, 205 hp, t25 turbo, usual stuff. s13 blacktop, i think its pretty much the same thing....corect me if im wrongs14 blacktop. Has valve control similar to vtec, t28 ball bearing turbo, 220 hp

s15 blacktop- 250 hp, 6 speed transmission, also has t28 ball bearing turbo, best of the sr20's

when they say long block, it means no transmission, wiring, or accessories.

you want a complete swap package if you wanna do it. It basically bolts in the same as the stock motor does, everything is same, cept for exhaust, unless you have a stock downpipe, then it bolts to the stock 240sx cat, but who wants to do that (=

also you need to do wiring, very easy, match the colors. Its all covered by the heavythrottle guide. Heavythrottle.net for more info

And to keep everything efficient, one would invest in an intercooler, intake, or....? Am I correct? I've also heard it's best to invest in new fuel rails, injectors, and pump, is that correct as well?

Front mount intercooler is the best investment youll make. Also, upgrade your fuel pump to a walbro 255 lph, i cant stress that last one enough.

Injectors and rail can wait...unless youre going for big numbers right away...and if so, upgrade the turbo at the same time as injectors and rails. The stock setup is good to atleast 12 psi without killing it, and at that boost level, its a pretty hairy ride.

and yes, the wiring is that easy....really.

SEARCH. long block is just the motor from oil pan to valvecover nothing else. front clip is the front half of a car chopped with the motor in it, easier to insure you have all the parts you need: motor/turbo/intercooler, trans, undamaged wire harness, ecu.

A good practice is to change the gaskets while the motor is out. Specifically the 4-bolt turbo gasket and the 8-bolt manifold gasket. If you do it before the swap, it's a 30minute install. While the motor is in, it takes 8 hours.

Dont feel like making a new thread so Ill ask here. Is there a cross reference to the throw-out bearing sleeve and pivot (fork) for a redtop s13 trannsmission? I just want to make sure before I pull off a KA transmission.

I believe they are the same between sr and ka....not absolutely sure....but nissan appeared to keep those the same.
