i just got my sr done finally today... as in no problems... besides that i have no fan shroud.... ( hasnt over heated yet... the neddle stays in middle ) and also... do i need a turbo timer???? like... i know after i run it pretty hard i should let it sit for a min or 2 right?????

another question... i should take it easy for the 1st 100 miles right??? or more? just to break it in?

Thanks, Jeff.

Im in desperate need of exhaust... they told me im not even gettn the full feel of the sr yet... they said my cat is REALLY clogged. they said once i get 3' all the way it'll feel so much faster..

The sr kinda spudders till it hits around 3-4 grand... then its smooth....

Ideas? Think its just the cat problem?

Yeah, with the 3" it makes all the difference. I had the same boggin problem, and it turned out to be and exhaust leak. Although I can't say the same for your situation, but its a start.

You're a lucky guy not to be overheating. I'm having a hell of a time with the cooling issues. But a Turbo Timer would be a wise investment, thats if you don't want to sit in the car and wait. It all depends on the length of time you were driving the car, and how hard. Better to be on the safe side. It never hurts to let the car idle longer as opposed to shorter. But its all up to you.

Fan shrouds dont help cooling. Dont worry about getting it.

WRONG! Fan shrouds direct the air pulling of the clutch fan. Without it your just blowing air around. Nissan didn't just accidently put it on.

If you have a clutch fan and shroud they are a great combo for cooling. If you have electrics then you don't need the stock fan shroud but you should have some type of air directing apparatus on the rad.

Fan shrouds have a dual purpose: 1 To pull air through the radiator, but they arent efficient enough to cool anything important. The fan is the main thing that cools, shrouds ARE NOT neccessary. They do not end up "blowing air around" the engine bay, they still take air through the radiator and blow it toward the engine. If someone really has a problem with cooling then they should look into electric fans and figure out whats wrong with their engine.2. To keep peoples hands out of the fan. Its a safety issue.

I have attached my clutch fan without a shroud and it does drop the temp of the engine. You dont need a shroud to augment the cooling capacities.

Yes but the stock temp gauge doesnt spike. It was 80 degrees here last week, drove for hours, sat in about 2 hours of traffic, no problem with the cooling here.

Congrats on getting the engine in and running. Your cat might clear out after you've been driving it for a while. With regards to the turbo timer, definitely get one if you don't have the discipline to sit in an idling car for a few minutes every time you park it.
