What do you mean it turned up nothing. You had the cylinder you were testing on TDC each time right? As far as the the quote $2200 you could always just do it yourself, if you wanted little wait time you could just get over size rings and hone it out and put it back together if you are happy with the setup you have.

I may be old fashioned, but isn't that a good thing?

How could a shop quote you a price, if they dont even know whats wrong. thats bs, it could be something very simple, and stupid like, a broken CAS, bad timing, or bad wiring.

now that i think about it, who preformed your leakdown test? it is pretty much impossiable to have a 0% leak on all cylinders.

how bad where your compression test results? lets see some numbers.

i did the leakdown test, and the compression was 120psi, 30, 40, 60 not in order but you o what i mean i think its just because the car has been sitting for 6 -7 months and idk howlong the engine was out before that so im thinking it just needs to let the oil cycle around the motor

Holy **** those are some horrible compression #'sdrop about 1/2 tsp of oil in each cylinder if the #'s shoot up then your rings are fried OR stuck cuz they have been sitting for so long

Plus it being a cold test and no oil on the rings from from not being ran they will be low.....but thats really low

well its hard to say cuz the engine has never ranon a normal C-T you have to

1) warm up engine to oper. temp2) pull all spark plugs3) disconnect CAS4) hold gas pedal to WOT and crank engine until the #'s stop rising

*make sure your battery has a good charge

so normally if the the engine shows poor compression #'s after this test if droppin oil in each cylinder raises the #'s then the rings are worn = bad

a rebuild is the same price as a long block? you can get new rings for like 100 bucks and a decent shop can hone and deck the block for 120-140. stock head gaskets are cheap.

so for about $400 you can rebuild your block for.

it will go up either way. ther compression test results of my first sr20 where 100psi 25psi 75psi 110psi but when i put oil, i got them all up to 170-180. the motor was still fried though, the oil just threw the test off.

what are you doing for a second motor? is the person who sold you the first one helping you out?

what was your % of leakdown on the cylinders??????????????? more than 20% you will need rings and valve job most likly to get it back to normal. air leak from the oil cap bad rings, air leaking from exhaust or throttle body bad valves.

i know that but i stuck a camera down inside the Head and saw rust everywhere inside the cylinder so im not going to bother to rebuild plus after all the work i could just buy a fully built block locally which im going to do
