well i was driving all day today and everything seemed fine, until when i went out one more time, the car isn't accelerating, idles real hard and backfires everytime i switch gears....my car has a manual boost controller on at about 11psi and i have a front mount intercooler, its been raining all day, but i wouldn't think the water has anything to do with it...... so if anyone has any ideas or suggestions of what is wrong, please let me know... THANKS!!

my car had the same issues with the backfiring and power......first check your 02 sensor....for my problem i unplugged the tps and it doesnt backfire and now has more power so im thinking its the tps....im getting it replaced soon.......anyways...try unplugging your tps and take it for a ride.

I would first start out by checking for any sort of boost or vacuum leak in your intercooler piping. What kind of intake are you running with your MAF? I had a similar problem when I just had a filter on the MAF sensor, I think any moisture on the MAF sensor causes the readings to go off. I let me car sit overnight after it stopped raining and it fixed my problem.

I'm reading this because I have had some of these problems in the past. First of all what is "tps" and how do I disconnect it? Second, what would disconnecting the O2 sensor do besides deprive the ECU of the O2 reading which wouldnt allow it to compute proper A/F ratio's?

TPS = throttle position sensor o2= oxygen sensor

make sure all of your intercooler piping is clamped down tight, especially now that u mention that falling air filter. any vacuum or boost leaks are evident if u have a can of propane. just let some propane vapor float around parts of the engine. if the car picks up and runs fine when u place it in a specific spot, that is where the leak is.

good luck
