Okay so here is the skinny - vvt blacktop sr20det, 740cc injectors, z32 MAFS, JWT ecu, blitz dd bov. So my oil gauge reads about 25 psi when just cruising at like 45 and about 50 psi on the throttle, yet at idle (about 1000rpm) it goes to like 5 psi. Also, the cooling system is as follows: koyo alumminum radiator, 2400cfm fan, nismo 1.3 bar cap, new water pump. Today it wanted to overheat after about 20 minutes of driving in 85 degree night weather - any tips for air removal from the system because i thought it was all out of there. Im so fed up with this car - last $14000 engine investment i make :(

Thanks in advance, Ryan

SR Gurus: he deserves a response.

Pudula:Can you include pics of your engine bay and rad set-up?Maybe we can see how the air flows ( or doesnt).

I am not an Sr expert but:Have you test replaced the tstat yet?Keep in mind that even if your tstat is new, they are sometimes bad out of the box even brand names.

If you have an S14 with an S13 blacktop the temprature sensor is wrong. Could be the same way for the S15 motor. You also need to use the little screw on the driver side of the motor where the radiator hose comes right out of the head in order to bleed the system.

What fans are you using? A shrouded fan of some kind makes a HUGE difference.

The VVT could be on the fritz. If you timing is jacked up the motor will run hot. There is also no telling how the JWT Ecu is dealing with temprature.

The oil pressure thing doesn't sound so good. Friend had that hapen to his 400 Small block. Turned out the thrust bearing on his crank was shot from when he installed the transmission and accidentially let the crank support all the weight.

Do those oil pressure numbers seem low to anyone else? I have about 60psi at 4000 RPM, and 20psi at idle.

Those oil pressure numbers are fine except for the idle number. stoopid question - are you sure you have enuf oil in the car? Did you account for any extra oil goodies you may have (i.e. filter relocation, cooler, larger pan)

FSM will definately be your friend on this one. Download it at zeroyon.com

I say replace the thermo, use distilled water and redline water wetter (you're in AZ I'm assuming so you probably don't need the anti-freeze). Bleed the system by taking off the little screw on the drivers side with the little yellow sticker below it. When that's filled up, plug up the hole with the screw (put some silicone on it too), and continue to fill the system with the rad cap off and the car running for a minute while you're continually filling the radiator. Cap and squeeze the upper radiator hose when you've shut down the car after the minute and uncap, refill, and repeat.
