when i am driving on the highway for like a half hour my tach needle would drop to zero and i will get no accelleration at all. then a couple seconds later the tach would jump back to normal and the car would be fine for another couple mins. then the problem would happen again. ne ideas. thanks for helping

so when the tach needle drops the car actually is losing power? Or is the needle just dropping and losing electrical power?

Electrical sounds like a ground, bad Altenator or Battery

Power could be clogged filter, ignition problem, Mass Air Problem, list goes on and on.

when the problem occurs i lose actual power i step on teh gas and i go no where

Does your cd player, interior lights or headlights still function properly when this power shortage happens? And when I say normally, I mean they dont get dimmer, or the volume decreases, or even shut off completely.

I would definitely check to make sure all your grounds are good and secure.

no the interior is fine the cd player will still work the lights they wont dim the engine it self will just shut off and as i would step on the gas the car would go nowhere. and then the enigne would go back on.

Any different sounds like a whine or something?

Whine noise could be the fuel pump going out.Could be dirty MASCould be a Bad MASCould be ignition problemOr Boost leak (car would run bad all the time and click loudly) Could be injector problems

This list could go on and on. I need to know sounds and stuff if you have any.

Also from my prior problems does this problem only happen when keeping constant speed or al the time? My car had the O2 sensor wired wron which caused the car to stumble when at constant throttle but ran fine at accell or decell.

yea the problem mostly happens at a constant speed, and i do have a ticking noise that sounds like it is comming from the head like around the vtc front of the engine. the noise is there hot and cold, one shop told me to get rid of the vtc and said that it was it that was causeing the problem, but i dont think they know to muchthanks for helping.
