Well im starting to do some more upgrades on my SR. Looking for more power.

My goal is 300whp+

So far I got all the stuff to make that possilbe (255 pump, FULL exhaust, FMIC, HKS SSQV)

Since im new to turbo's etc I cant really decide on which would be the best setup for me.

Im getting. -550cc injectors-SAFC2-Z32 MAF-PLX wideband-EBC

First off I was thinking a GT28??? Either disco Potatoe, OEM s15 or GT2871r.

Then i was thinking like a T3/T4 setup with a top mount manifold etc and external wastegate.

What do you think I should do. This car is my daily driver and I want something that boosts strong... and gets full boost @ a reasonable RPM

Also how hard is it to tune yourself with the SAFC2. I just need to get it running with all this stuff enough So i can drive it 2 hours to the nearest dyno.

Any recommendations are welcome and helping me choose the right setup.

Thanks-Ben

I say S15 turbo, exhaust mani, elbow, boost controller, and tuned ecu.

GT2871R w/either the .86 or .64 housing. S15 turbo will do 300whp, but it will be very close to running out of it's efficiency range. If you want the most power, best driveability and reliability, ditch the afc and run a standalone. Save yourself the money on the wideband, if you don't know how to tune, it will be pretty worthless. A good tuner will be able to dial your car in and you won't have to worry about it. You might want to step up the injector size as well to maintain safe duty cycles.

2871R .64, 650cc injectors (at least), Z32 MAF. If you tune using the SAFCII, you will need a good datalogging wideband or alot of dyno tuning.

gt2871R w/ .64 or a t28 style compressor, 740cc injectors - fpr,z32 mafs, ecu tune (enthalpy), and upgrade your cooling capacity - radiator, oil pan or even a oil cooler.

like everyone else has been saying gt2871r .64. quick spool good power... and DO NOT go t28 (s14/s15 turbo) if your goals are over 300..

not to threadjack, but i'm in the same boat.

i was wondering what the difference is as far as performance between topmount and bottom mount mani's.

i've been lookin at this and this

also, would both of those be safe to run on stock internals and suitable for a daily driver? i have cometic hg and arp head studs btw

i think i would be happy with under 300, though... that's a lot of power for my s13 imo especially for a dd

top and bottom mount are basically same crap. bottom is just more secrete and stock looking. With Topmount you're could get some huge turbos though.

and as for pushing at around 300 with a stock head... i dont think it's a good idea... probably DOable but probably wont last too long. i would recommend you get a metal hg, valve springs, and RAS.... as for the bottom end, everything should be all gravy.

gt2871R .64 all the way. I would think about a greddy intake manifold and some cams too along the way, and ya 740cc inj. basically what everyone is saying...

ive been on the stock headgasket for 2 months now with my 2871R at 18psi. No signs of leaking and runs strong as hell. Dont doubt the stock headgasket because its only gonna blow if you show high knock and detonation. Even with a metal HG these conditions will hurt your bottom end. Good tuning is all you need to keep the stock headgasket.

I recommend Top Speed Intake Manifold and at least 264 Step 1 cams.

i wish i would have gone top mount. its so much easier for maintanence of the turbo and exhaust. you have to be careful of heat near the brake cylinder though.

Ok so..

-Enthaply Tune (Where can I get that done?)-GT2871R .64 -740cc Injectors-Z32 MAF

As far as boost goes. I guess it would be best to get a good EBC or does the enthaply Tune take care of most of that?..

very similar to my setup but i do have a "F"reddy intake mani which helps the top end a bit.

You can either go with a MBC or EBC to control boost. Your ECU does not control how much to boost.
