SR POWER 89 S13 240SX BRAKE HARD PEDAL! Ok tonight I went to test drive a 89 S13 240SX HB with sr20det red top. The only thing that is wrong is that. The brake is so hard that even if I put both of my feet and lift my A%$ up to put my weight on the pedal. The Pedal wont go down more than 2-3 inch!!! Also it does not stop or next to no brake!

Need Help ASAP so I know should I get the car or not.

Give me your best guess!

Thanks

master I'd guess. If it there were a cinch at the lines, you'd still have braking power at the other wheels...dunno could also be your booster but the inconsistant thing sounds like a master.

My guess is vacuum booster, no vacuum to it. Or check valve installed backwards.... You say you have a hard pedal and no stop not a low pedal and crappy brakes right?

It feels like I am pushing a rock with both of my feet and still no stoping. And like i said before the pedal is so hard that it only go down max is 3 inch!

5-0mph 15-20 feet

How much do your think it would cost me to put a new master on?

thanks

Nope........DO you have the vacuum line from the booster hooked up to a hard vacuum source(Hard=vacuum all the time)?

Vacuum hose running from the side of power booster......about 8mm id hose needs to connect to engine vacuum source......otherwise no power brakes. push your *** off and the car wont stop or stop very well...Also may have a check valve in the same hose that is a oneway valve.....if backwards no vacuum to the booster.

Ok

I just Learn the Power Steering is not hook up and the A/C is not hook up!

Does any of the 2 matter?

only if that matters to you, do you want A/c? Do you want PS? The brake booster hose is a vavuum line going from the big black, circulare(sp?) steering thing that is bolted onto your fire wall. It should go from the right side of the engine bay, connect to something else ont he fireway, then go to the left side of the engine and connect to a large inlet on the bottom of the intake manifold. It's pretty easy to find.

Oh ok

Because I have people that told me. I need P/S for the P/B to work.

But so far I got there is a possibity is either brake master, or Brake booster, or V- Line is not conneted right!

So nothing major problem!

PS has nothing to do with PB. It sound though like this a major project and if you are that unfamiliar with the mechanics of this car you should seek professional help.

If this guy couldn't even figure out he had no vacuum assist before he sold the car I would seriously question how well the install was done and what other gremlins are going to pop up in the future. Especially with the wiring.

A master cylinder will not cause an overly hard pedal. This is a brake booster or vacuum problem.

I refer back to my previous post.

The only one way valve I remember is the one on the firewall.
