I was thinking of going Sr but I did a little research and the ka can make more power more reliable. I didnt want to go to crazy with anything and also I think it will be less stress since my motor only has maybe 15k on a stock rebuild. I'm not looking to make a ten second car just something fun and reliable all input appreciated

if you trust your rebuild, a fun KA-T might be more easily attainable. figure, you buy a "60k/km SR" and youre just hoping it wasnt driven by someone like me =)

I'm not trying to start the never ending battle between sr and ka, but the sr is far more reliable than the ka. (yes I started with the ka just like everyone else) however if you have a fresh.rebuild... There is nothing wrong with going kat which had become much more respectable than it used to be. Just like s133p said, most sr swaps have been driven hard and put away wet by the time you get your hands on it. Take the money you would spend on a swap and just buy all the turbo stuff you need. Probably cheaper too.

always thinking about the $$$$ aspect of it, and adding a few parts to your set-up is far cheaper than starting new....

My personal experience, id piece together my setup. Kits are expensive and usually there is always something I don't like about the kit. Not to mention, you get to choose what you want for every aspect of the build. Turbo, manifold, turbo lines, bov, wastegate, intercooler and piping, injectors, ecu, maf, fuel pump. Do your homework on what turbo you want, how much boost you want to run and how much horsepower you're looking for and research the parts on everything I listed and you'll be happier choosing everything yourself. Not to mention, yes, it should be cheaper.

First question - where are you going to find a SOHC KA turbo manifold?

EDIT: After a quick search, I should say "Where are you going to find a GOOD SOHC KA turbo manifold that isn't $700?"

I'm not looking for mad power just enough to make it fun and still be reliable.
