Whats up guys.. after 5 months of being down my SR finally ran yesterday for the first time!

It was a bittersweet moment since it came with a whole slew of issues.... so you guys can help me out :)

Things it does:1.stumbles at first attempt to start. usually stutters but catches on second attempt.

2.Runs but idles really high... how high I can't tell because...

3. The tach is not working, its dead at 0. I haven't checked to see if the entire dash is dead or just the tach.

4. It backfires from time to time, I took the MAF harness plug off since my hotpipe isn't on the turbo right now and it backfired more and ran crappier than when it was connected even without intercooler piping.

5. This one is pretty wierd.... pressing in the gas pedal warrants no chance in the revs of the engine... thinking maybe my cable was just not properly sized I opened at closed the TB by hand and still it causes absolutely no noticeable change in revs.

6. It is letting off some smoke from the exhaust manifold area... It may be burning oil on the block... I have only started it twice and once the backfires started getting out of hand I shut it off so I haven't yet narrowed the local of the smoke.

7. In only 3---maybe 4 minutes of running the muffler is pitch soot black on the inside... running extremely rich???

Things that I know need to be finished still.

1. Intercooler piping-- My piping is all there I have a Hybrid intercooler with hybrid piping and an Enjuku hotpipe... problem is they don't meet up there is like a 2 " gap between them.

2. o2 sensor is not yet hooked up... I need to look into how and where you hook it up.

3. the vaccuum line used for a boost gauge is not closed off since I haven't hooked my boost gauge up yet.

Other than that I dunno... my biggest question really is what in the world would cause opening and closing the TB to have no influnce on the running of the engine what so ever??

if you are missing piping it won't run right. period. finish the piping then start diagnosing if problems persist.and look to see if just the tach doesn't work or what

Yes I know, I'm working on that.

one other thing is does which was weird was when I turned the ignition off the last time and pulled the key out... the car revved up all high with the key already out then shut offbut yes I'll work on getting the piping completed.

Well it sounds like you outlined your own problems. Hook up the O2, plug up the vacuum line, and connect your intercooler piping.

Its idling high because its loosing vacuum. Its running really rich because the piping is not connected.Hooking up the O2 will remedy some of your other problems.

Good Luck
