I have an s13 sr with 72 lb msd injectors, megan FPR, JWT s3 cams, z32 maf, JWT tune, gt2871r (and other stuff that i dont feel like listing right now) and it keeps melting cyl 1 plugs. It will run excellent for about one pull through third gear and then I can feel the plug melt (car looses a lot of power and you can hear it knocking). Wideband says that it's at about 11.5-11.7 at full boost and WOT. I know that the cyl 1 injector is firing because I took it out and tried starting the car. Any suggestions? Thanks so much in advance! (By the way, I searched and didn't find any definitive answers).

Oh, it's an NGK iridium, heat range 7 plug.

Looks like my plug after I got a little detonation, it also collapsed my ringland slightly and seized a ring.

I would send the injectors out to be cleaned and balanced, I bet the #1 isn't spraying nearly as much fuel as the others.

Thank you very much, that was my first instinct as well. Is there some way I can test the injector myself to see if it's firing the proper amount of fuel? The only thing with that idea is that the injectors are relatively new (only about 2 years old).

You could wire the fuel pump on, and apply power to the injector for one minute, spraying the fuel into a graduated beaker, that would tell you the CC per minute.

No problems with that coil pack at all?

Well, I took out the coilpack and inspected it closely. There are no cracks. How could I tell if it's not functioning properly though?

Swap it with that of another cylinder. See if the problem goes with it.

Well, I was reluctant to do that but I did yesterday. The problem did follow the injector, but it seems to have made matters worse. Long story short, anyone have a long block they want to sell? haha

Well, I came back after doing a pull and pulled the 2nd cyl plug (the cyl I swapped the injector into) and it overflowed with coolant which is generally not a good sign. All other cylinders were fine.

Yeah, I'm tearing it apart today. First I'm just going to try re-torquing the head studs as they only have like 800 miles on them.
