man and i just got done inst. the walbro fuel pump (which i may have to reinstall bc the fuel gauge isnt working, see "Stupid Walbro Fuel Pump" thread). Ok, there is this LOUD rattling inside my motor, like somethings broken and its just hitting the inside of the valve cover. Damn. I have a sure feeling that its pretty severe. Can you guys tell me what the noise is?

^^^its coming from the front, its circled in red.

Is it ok if i keep driving with this prob? though i WILL get it fixed

thanks guys

-mike :)

Sounds like a baby rattle? Timing chain needs servicing.

The tension side is metal, the slack side is thin plastic. The old sohc KA's got a timing chain recall because of the chain eating through the plastic side. i've opened up my SR but didn't see any marks on the plastic slack side so I figure there isn't much of a problem on that side. But the tension side could be worn down. Might want to have a look at that.
