I was wondering how do I prepare my car for either a KADET or an SR. I know I have to remove the radiator shroud, radiator, all wiring, ?EGR?, transmission and/or driveshaft. But how do I deal with the AC? I have 2 240s as most of you know, both fastbacks, 91 and 93. I'm probably going the KADET route just cause I'm in Cali and I can keep a set of I/H/E easier than a full KA engine. I figure I'd swap out the turbo kit when I smog. But yeah, to recap, I just wanted to know how to take out the AC or what I needed to do to prepare an engine removal/swap. Thanks!

um, just leave it on the car. Leave the lines on, unbolt the compressor from the motor, bungy cord that sucker to the side where it wont get in the way.

So if I were to take out the compressor, none of the freon will shoot out? what if I have to replace the AC compressor from the KA with the one from the SR? Will the freon stay in the condensor? Where is the compresor? I have the FSM, but it says to let a professional deal with it and doesnt really reveal much about the AC unit.

By the way, thanks a lot J-spec!

Unbolt the compressor from the motor, but DO NOT take the two silver hoses that connect to it loose. Then like J-spec said just tie the compressor out of the way under the hood. Basically just hold it to the side of the engine bay while you take the motor out and put the new one in.
