ive been searching the net everywhere but couldnt find anything on this. my sr didnt come with a shifter, and ive read that a ka shifter would work since theyre the same trannies, but for some odd reason the ka shifter doesnt fit. the round plastic piece that sits around the hole of the transmission is different- the ka is thicker than the sr's. i thought that would be the problem, but after trying the one for the sr, the ka shifter still wouldnt reach the shift linkage. also, is the c-clip larger on the sr than on the ka? if anyone knows and have these parts lying around let me know. thanks

At our shop , we installed a Attain SR shifter on a KA transmission. We had to ever so gently cut the KA shifter white ring and and press it ever so carefully on the SR shifter stem. And we used the KA C clip ect.

When cutting that white ring , DO NOT break it.

I dont know if this answers your question or not , since your doing the opposite of what we did.

do u mean the little plastic ring? why did you have to switch that? when i tried it i had no problem with the ring fitting into the shift linkage, im just having a hard time getting the shifter to actually reach the shift linkage to shift properly. did u have any problems with that? ive been told that both shifters are the same length, the only difference is the round plastic piece that goes into the hole on the transmission
