Towed my car down to Wayne on Saturday morning and got to work at about 12. A couple people from a very reputable shop showed up to help with the wiring and the hotpipe.
Saturday,So working at a semi-leisurely pace, we had all the wiring prepped and the hotpipe and BOV flange done by about 8PM. Had some other stuff to do, like a new valve cover gasket, and making sure everything was ready to go, add fluids, etc. So, we decide it's ready, and go ACC on. Fuel pump starts pumping fuel through the lines, and the lines thank me by dumping fuel all over the ground. Damn. Also, the starter wasn't getting power. So they spent a couple hours trying to figure out why the starter wasn't getting power to no avail. And since the fuel line was busted, we couldn't do anything that night because AutoZone was closed already. Oh well, I stayed the night at my grandparents who live like 2 miles away. I left the shop at about 11:30. Almost 12 hours of straight work.
Sunday,I got to the shop at about 1:30, and Wayne was almost done replacing my fuel lines that come out of the pump, so once that was done, we did another ACC on to make sure there were no leaks. There weren't, so that part was done, but we were still trying to figure out why the starter wasn't getting power. The test light was getting no signal. So we hooked the starter up directly to power, and it cranked, so things were looking good. Eventually, they troubleshot it down. There is a harness underneath the fuse box by the battery (kinda hard to see) that got unplugged at some point, plugged that in, and bam, it fired right up. So after that, we just did some tuning, adjusted the CAS and the BOV, tightened down all the IC piping, made sure everything was good. Then, we were off on the 5 mile test. Passed with flying colors. The hotpipe came off, but that wasn't a big problem, also the car died while slowing down, so we adjusted the BOV again. Took it on another 5 mile test and it did fine. So, we decided we were good to go. I drove it home, about 60 miles with my friend following me, and it made it through the mountains fine. The engine holds boost really well, fires up with no problems, feels really good. Just have a few small adjustments like timing.
Anyway, major props to Wayne and his crew. 18 hours+ of work in the last two days. Nuts. But I'm glad it's finally running. Now comes the fun part; smog.
Oh yeah, I got my wiring, hotpipe w/ flange and my gauge pod and gauges installed. Things are good.
Here are my pics. My car should be up on Waynes site tomorrow:
