whats up guys.

alright so i just did the sr swap into my 92 S13. everything is wired corectly according to the diagrams

go to start the car and it starts but sputters and dies. after a while we narrowed it down to the MAF being the problem.

if you cover the MAF with your hand, restricting the amount of air going in, the car will run, rev, blow off, everything fine which baffles me.

i have tried to move the MAF farther away from the turbo inlet but nothing changed. i am currently using the stock rubber tube and the intake with the MAF at teh end near the front of the fender on the driver side.

can anybody suggest something other than getting a new MAF? i have 2 KA MAFs and 1 SR MAF that i have tried with all the same results. i am pretty sure that all 3 of those are not FUBAR'd

derek

Run your car without the MAF, leave it disconnected and see if it idles fine and turns on fine.

This will just kick it into limp mode.

Another thing you can do is to check your ECU for codes and see if you have an error, could possibly be throwing out a code which would help you pin point your problem.

Make sure you have all your vacuum lines ran correctly and no boost leaks. Meaning make sure all your tubing is connected properly because some people try to fire up their enignes with none of the tubing and they wonder why it's not staying on.

Just curious, is your brake booster vacuum line hooked up?

i think you need to check all your vac lines and just to eliminate things hook-up all vac lines and air re-circulation lines, as they were from the factory, or as many as you can.

everything is hooked up except for stock oil catch can. i have driven the car a short distance with a friend sitting on the hood holding his hand over the MAF and it drove fine.

it is def a MAF problem, just have to figure out wether it is in the wiring or the unit itself

all vacuum lines are connected. the car would not have blown off while driving if they weren't

it idles when you cover the maf..so to me it looks like your getting too much air for the fuel mix.....like the others have stated..this can be a vacume leak..to find if there is or isent..get a can of starting fluid...spray just a little bit ..trust me..just a little..at every connection to the manifold...vac lines..injectors..the intake gasket....if the engine rpm spikes!..you have found a leak..this is where the extra un-meaterd air would be leaving at idle..when under load..it should be hissing out the are with a leak..due to your boost pressure....if ya cant find a leak..then you need to test the maf for shur man..good luck
