Hey guys, help me out here. I know this was discussed awhile back, but hear me out. I've got a 240 destined to get an SR, but I'm doing all the mandatory stuff to get the car to the point where it "deserves" the new motor. The car has 122K on the clock. Frame is straight (I'm taking it to a shop next week to confirm this, and body has no major rust or bondo. Slight hit to the door and rear quarter, having that repaired at the same time. Ignoring stuff like exhaust and getting my hands on a VLSD, what should I plan on replacing for swapping the SR into a high mile car? Shocks, struts and springs, pillows, sway links, urethane bushings. Considering new bearings with a brake upgrade/5 lug conv. What have you guys needed to replace or wish you had...and what tends to wear out that I might not think of...thanks for the help.

upgrade Struts, springs, bushings, sway bars, should be replaced if they are not in good condition. tie rod ends should be replaced if it has torn boots.

If you are doing the 5 lug conversion, you are replacing the bearing as well since the 5 lug hub comes with new bushings. Spindles, all those will be replaced anyways.

if suspension arms are straight use them, if they are bent, replace them. Also, you should repalce the T/C rod.

brake lines, rotors, pads, new or rebuilt calipers. lube the caliper pins with lithium grease.

don't forget to take out the wheels and give the suspension arms a good scrub. I scrubbed mine with an old tooth brush and degreaser. Man, I swear it looks brand new. Also, use car washing detergent and water to clean the wheel well. It definetly needs some cleaning. It will look really nice after the job. There are lots of things to clean. They look old and rusty, but after cleaning them, they will look new again.
