I was wondering what the "weak link" so to speak was in the SR20DET. ive yet to hear what fails at what ballpark hp. Also, this is assuming a good running environment, ie not failures due to detonation etc.

Id read in the past that the stock longblock was good to ~375, but have seen several cars lay down over 400 and still be living healthy. regardless of fat a/f #s and no detonation everything can only take so high of a cyclinder pressure, etc.

so..........?

450 at the wheels on stock internals you will start breaking stuff.

i've seen 450rwhp car break rods. can't say i've seen any piston problems. rod usually goes thru the block on the 3 or 4 i've seen.shaun

cant say man....depends how you break...what boost, what mods, what fuel your running, who tunes your car....its impossible for anyone to say if you will burn up some rings before you have a rod problem...blow a headgasket first? rocker arms will get iffy before that amount of HP....usually people upgrade before they break, so not many people get to that point before they would mod the car...

Atleast rocker arm stoppers, but i would do pistons, rings, rods, and have the block sleaved before i tried ot run 450 at the wheel....i would rather not blow a hole in my block....

if you are running lean, you wil have problems, if you are running rich, you might burn up some rings, you might have piston problems, etc etc etc etc....
