SR Install Questions

A friend of mine and I are installing a blacktop S13 in his 180. He is using the HKS Type S FMIC. Do I NEED a hot pipe or not? I am gathering all the parts at the moment, and I would just like to know for sure if I should order one or not.

Also does anyone know where I can get the Apex'i N1 Front pipe, and also a R200V LSD with the stock gear ratio? I found some 95-96 J30 LSDs, but the have that added 3/4" in ABS sensor, and I heard they have taller gears. 3.9 I think. I talked to one guy who opened up his J30 and got a 47 ring count, (3.9 gearing) can anyone confirm this?

He doesnt HAVE a 180sx he is converting to a 180 with the b-top 180 motor, thats what u meant right?

yeah i'd like to know what a hot pipe is exactly.....i know that most intercooler kits only have the piping from the FMIC to the throttle body, so is the hot pipe the pipe that goes form the turbo to the intercooler? if not, what is it i'm looking for?

Yep, the hotpipe connects the turbo to the intercooler. If you didn't get a front clip, or a motorset with the stock sidemount intercooler, then you'll most likely need a hotpipe. If you did get one of those two I listed, then you can use the stock piping that connects to the stock sidemount. Personally even if I did get the stock piping I'd still get the hotpipe, because it looks much better than the stock one, it's all one piece, and it matches the rest of my intercooler pipes. But I'm kinda anal about stuff like that

EDIT: Also forgot to mention, if you get an HPI intercooler it comes with the hotpipe, so you wouldn't need to buy a separate one

Don, I said 180 so you guys know that its a 240 FB.

Everyone else thanks. I though that it had something to do with the SMIC piping... His motor was delayed two weeks because of Christman and New Years. I will be picking it up on friday, after I clear customs. He alreadly has the HKS type S BTW..
