Well after a while of thinking *about 3 years of talking to myself* I finally decided to choice an SR over a KA,CA,RB. I have my own reasons but here come a couple of questions I still have lingering in my mind.

One is my option to get an s14 SR and I was wondering what are some advantages/disadvantages to having or removing the VVT.

Are their any cams allow the VVT to stay intact *aka stay on*

Say I keep the VVT stock cams, Any valve train items that I should stay away from that force me to turn off VVT?

Last, whats the max out on power for 440cc *s15 ones I believe they are 440* injectors?

Yes an s14 motor in an s13... unless my funds change on me.

the VVT is nothing more than a valve timing (like VTEC, hence its name). it helpful for good gas mileage at cruising speeds, and advances when the throttle is wide open, giving a better acceleration response. running without it, well, you will obviously lose out on the one of those benefits (well at least from an educated standing, im not too familiar with S14 SRs).

if you don't know already, what makes the S14 SR differ from that found on JDM S13s, is the head designs. The S13 SR has a higher air-flowing head, but is coupled with the smaller S13 T25 turbo. The S14/15 SRs have the bigger T28 turbo and VVT, but will hardly see the same air flow of an S13's head.

well if you plan on going S14 SR, consider that the VVT will become obsolete after seeing 300-350 HP. there are other aftermarket companies that ive seen on Takakaira.co.jp that make the VVT cams if you plan on seeing the light past that much power. not too sure about the valvetrain parts question, so check out http://www.takakaira.co.jp for a large catalog of parts.

other than that, that is as much as i could tell you based on my experience swapping and rebuilding some SRs. good motor in any chassis, but consider that VVT will be obsolete at higher power levels, and that a slightly bigger turbo on the S13 SR can certainly match up or surpass the output of an S14/15 SR.

what are your reasons for choosing the S14?

I have seen a few dyno with the VVT even into high hp the VVT gain in the mid range. HKS and Tomei make cams specially designed for the VVT. Alot of people just get rid of it because they don't want to deal with it or are misinformed.

actually VTEC changes valve lift with a higher lift cam profile when vtec comes on, VVT simply changes valve timing.

Thanks for the post backs thus far everyone!

Reason one: Low mileageReason two: s15 motor set needs s15 rear end for the 6speed to work, same for 5 speeder as well.Reason three: I dont need mad power and I have a little more knowledge with the s14 version over the s13.

Yes the head is not as great as the s13 but that can change easy with some work to it. I also want to work more with the VVT that nissan developed to know it better since my other choice was a rb25 neo.

I am a person that thinks that with proper tunning and advanced products you can get a lot of power from something very little.

I have been around nissan for quite a while and well as you see work for nissan so I fully understand what I am getting myself into.
