This curious question popped in my head one day:what would happen if you removed all the turbo parts on a SR20DET and tried to run it as NA?

If you were broke as hell, and you didn't want to fix leaking pipes and a blown turbo, could you still drive your car?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

MAYBE if you changed out the injectors and the ecu...otherwise I just don't see it running very well.

i think you would need a different ecuadn the compression would be low as hell so probly not well. I think it would cost more to run it non-turbo then fixing whats really wrong.

It would be more expensive and less powerful than just buying a RWD SR20DE.

I'd be willing to bet it would run just fine. What are mass air sensors for ?

I thing it would run okay as well. Probably slow as crap due to the low compression, but I think it would work. I know my SR will idle without the hotpipe on, but have never tried to drive it without the turbo.

So in other words, yes it would work, but it would probably only make like less than 90hp at the wheels.

I did it with mine for a few days. It was gutless as hell. I had my SDS tuned for the turbo, but without it, it ran fine.

i've ran my engine without a turbo and it sucks. I had an issue where the e clip that holds the WG actuator arm to the WG door fell off, so the arm would randomly fall off. The car has absolutely no pick up and go then.

Your car would then be a Q's model

Toda racing has a SR20DET with a nismo N2 head that's using ITB's instead of a turbo. Might want to go check out todaracing.com under the race engine page.
