I have been working on and off on my s13 sr20 motor for about a couple of years now and Ive run into a problem that i cant seem to figure out. my sr wont seem to idle right for the life of me. While the motor is cold the idle is good and throttle response is good. As the motor starts to warm up throttle resposne seems to be more sluggish and there is a strong smell of exhaust! the idle just keep dropping and when the motor is at opperating temp and i rev it up a little is fall flat and the motor will die. if i let it ilde is just idles very low at like 400 rpms. maybe its boost leaks or maybe timing i just want to get some input on where i should start first. thanks alot for any help!!

Is your blow off valve recirculated back into the intake? I had the same problem, not quite as extreme as you but recirculating the bov fixed it. Now my engine runs perfect. I had an s14 sr with an open vented bov, and the engine was not affected. I think the s13 sr's ecu must be more sensitive to loosing already metered air. I have also just recently created an exhaust leak before the o2 sensor (mountain like drive way + low car is bad), that made it idle funny some times. The bov is most likely. Also the crank case needs to pull a vacuum. When I got my s14 with the sr, the previous owner had one of those little filters on the t fitting in the valve cover. I ran a catch can from the t into my intercooler pipe, that also made it run much better. The factory has a hose pulling vacuum at the valve cover t fitting. My engine runs perfect after the minor fixes I did to my car. I hope this helps.
