Hello, my SR has a problem starting even when its not cold. and i cant figure out what it is. it use to start no problem when i swaped it in, but it got worse. It takes like 5 min just to start the car when its cold and when its warm it will only start when i give it some gas. It will not start at all without pumping the throttle. I was think it could be the FPR,bad timing or something to do with the fuel system, like bad fuel filter or somthing. So if some one whould give me some pointers i would really apreccaite it.

When starting a engine the ECM looks at coolant temp to determine the proper fuel mixture for the temp the engine is at. If it sees a extreamly cold condition it will give it the richest possible mixture for maximum atomization of fuel it can get since fuel wont ignite as a liquid. The colder the fuel is the less it will atomize so it needs more fuel to increase the chances. Now if the coolant temp sensor says its - 40 degrees in the engine [typical failing CTS reading] The ecm is gonna open the injector pulse width to somewhere around 50ms dumping a hell of alot of fuel in the engine. If your car is really around 58 degrees[typical cold start up temp] it will probably start but its gonna take awhile. If your engine is at 104 degrees [typical warm start up temp] good luck unless you hold the pedal to the floor [ clear flood command, shuts off injectors].

If I were you I would pull the codes from the ECM and see if you have a code 13 [coolant temp sensor open or short]. could just be corrosion build up on the connector at the sensor.
